“Over the years, I have found that stepping into the world of different characters’ has provided me with a way of understanding the world through someone else’s eyes. It’s allowed me to empathise and understand strange and unique personalities found in this world. I find acting in itself somewhat therapeutic, as it puts life into perspective, it allows you to escape your own struggles and focus on someone else’s.”

Kathy’s Journey
“Life is a journey, not a destination” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Start of career
Kathy has loved performing since childhood, finding freedom from her shyness through acting. At age 15, she chose to pursue an acting career despite her inexperience. As an inexperienced person in the industry, she didn’t know where to start or what to do.
That’s why Kathy decided to study at Deakin University to gain an understanding of the industry. There she developed solo and group performances and learned how to support herself as an artist.
Performing was a freeing experience, and the more Kathy explored it, the more she discovered how liberating and remarkable it could be.
Kathy learned that acting requires you to be bring your life experience to the character, your pain, happiness etc. to whatever scene the character has.
It’s easy to judge a character but it takes effort sometimes to try and understand them. No one is born good or evil, life and different experiences shape people into who they are. Every person we come in contact with shapes us into the individual we are today, no matter how big or small of a role they’ve played in our lives. Empathy is at the heart of humanity and it needs to be at the heart of every role.

Current career
At the moment, Kathy Pitropakis is working with her agent to create a strong connection in the film and television industry while still devising her own productions based around issues such as mental health, social discrimination, and human rights. She enjoys creating original work but loves getting the opportunity to be a part of other artists’ productions as it provides her with the chance to further her experience and knowledge.
Kathy creates original work but mostly likes to participate in other artists’ productions to gain further experience and knowledge. She attends training sessions whenever possible with members of the creative community to develop her professional skills. Participation in workshops enables her to concentrate on improving her craft and developing a range of characters.
Her previous experience includes work in theatrical productions and extra roles for television, which have helped her become familiar with TV sets. Kathy adheres to the motto by Konstantin Stanislavsky: “there are no small parts, only small actors,” maintaining respect and enthusiasm for all acting opportunities that come her way.

I want through the abilities that I have gathered to bring to life unique characters every time. No one in the world is exactly the same so no character that I develop should be identical to a previous one that I have created. Society deserves to witness and experience something new every time they watch a production”
